PM Lee Hsien Loong thanks all who pay respects to father Lee Kuan Yew as private wake ends

SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, in a Facebook post on Tuesday night, thanked all who have paid their last respects to his father, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

A private family wake at Sri Temasek at the Istana ended on Tuesday night.

A gun carriage will convey Mr Lee's body from the Istana to Parliament House at 9am on Wednesday, March 25, where he will lie in state until Saturday.

PM Lee wrote: The last day of our family wake. My father's body will leave Sri Temasek for the last time tomorrow at 9am, to lie in state at Parliament House. You can visit there from 10am to 8pm till Saturday."

"On behalf of my family, I would like to thank all who have paid their last respects to my father, whether at Sri Temasek, at the tribute centres all over the island, or online.

The post was accompanied by a picture of Sri Temasek taken by PM Lee on Tuesday night.

The caption read: "Sri Temasek tonight. It is the official residence of the PM. We never lived here, but my parents spent many happy evenings here with the children and grandchildren. Tomorrow my father's body will leave Sri Temasek for the last time. "
