PM Lee Hsien Loong deeply touched by good wishes and prayers for father

SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said he is deeply touched by good wishes and prayers for his father.

Mr Lee Kuan Yew, 91, has been hospitalised in the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) since Feb 5, when he was admitted for severe pneumonia. In an update on Mr Lee's condition on Friday, the Prime Minister's Office said he remains critically ill.

On the same day, PM Lee put up a Facebook post and a black and white family photo.

He wrote: "Thank you all for your good wishes and prayers for my father. I am deeply touched by them.

"Have been looking at some old photos from our family collection. So many happy memories over a lifetime."

There has been an outpouring of emotions and reflection online about the former prime minister, following news that his condition had deteriorated. SGH has designated an area outside Block 7, near the Bengawan Solo cake shop, for well-wishers to leave cards and flowers.
