PM Lee, Education Ministers send notes of encouragement to students on first day of school

SINGAPORE - Monday (Jan 4) saw students returning to school for the first time in 2016 after the recent year-end holidays.

Acting Minister for Education (Schools) Ng Chee Meng was at Ahmad Ibrahim Primary School to welcome a new batch of Primary 1 pupils.

Mr Ng had posted a note on Facebook on Sunday evening, urging students, teachers and school staff to get a good rest and "get ready for a new year of learning and adventure".

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also penned a message of encouragement on his Facebook page, where he urged students and anxious parents alike, not to be too nervous.

He wrote: "May you have a good time making new friends, and grow into the person you're meant to become. Have a good first day of school, everyone!"

Acting Education Minister (Higher Education and Skills) Ong Ye Kung also wished students and parents good luck.
