Passers-by rescue taxi driver after cab turns turtle in accident in Tampines

SINGAPORE - Passers-by rescued a taxi driver after his vehicle flipped over after an accident in front of Safra Tampines on Tuesday (June 6).

Police were alerted to the accident at Tampines Avenue 1 towards Tampines Avenue 10 at 6.19pm.

A video posted on Facebook page Connextaxi on Wednesday showed passers-by checking the City Cab taxi which had turned turtle.

Two from among the group of about 10 people carried the taxi driver out of the car and set him by the roadside.

Police said they were alerted to the traffic accident at 6.20pm.

Besides the taxi, two other cars were involved in the accident, police said.

It was not clear how the taxi had flipped over.

The 71-year-old taxi driver was taken to Changi General Hospital, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

Police said investigations are ongoing.
