More people are hiring security guards for weddings, funeral wakes and private parties

When polytechnic student Ryan Koh and his friends hosted a Halloween party last October, they made sure they had all the usual items down pat - food, drinks and decor.

They also set aside part of their budget for one more thing - to hire a security officer to stand at the door.
