Stay-at-home dad Chris Koh Teck Hui and his son Nathanael, 11, who was diagnosed with global developmental delay with low muscle tone when he was one. Dr Koh had read research suggesting that living in a cool, temperate climate would be better for Nathanael's development, so the family moved to New Zealand in 2015. The decision paid off and, today, Nathanael can run, swim and cycle, just like any average child.

In 2011, first-time parents Chris Koh Teck Hui and Wendy Koh, now both aged 42, listened with dismay as their one-year-old son Nathanael was diagnosed with global developmental delay with low muscle tone.
The doctor told the couple there was little hope for Nathanael to ever function independently.
