SINGAPORE - Three years into the pandemic, Ms Yvonne Lian noticed that her Primary 3 daughter was afraid to speak to strangers, and could not even buy a drink on her own.

It was not until her mother sought professional advice that she discovered her daughter had mild symptoms of social anxiety, partly because mask-wearing hampered her ability to read facial cues.
