Pandemic year sparks record online donations

Giving.sg receives $93.4m, more than double that in 2019; more also sign up as volunteers

Despite the deepest recession since Singapore's independence in 1965, Singaporeans dipped deep into their pockets to give record sums to charity through online donation platforms last year.

With the shadow of the pandemic hanging over the nation, Giving.sg received $93.4 million last year, more than twice the sum it collected in 2019. On Dec 31 alone, it collected $2.5 million - the largest amount netted in one day.
