Over 500 educators to discuss English language assessment

Over 500 participants from Singapore and overseas will be discussing issues related to the assessment of the English language.

The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation Regional Language Centres's (RELC) 48th International Seminar, which started on Monday, will see educators and language practitioners present papers on innovative assessment modes, that will help better track the teaching and learning progress of students.

Ms Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State (Education and Law), who was the guest of honour for the event on Monday, noted that assessment modes are evolving.

She added that assessment should go "beyond the purpose of merely measuring individual achievement and evaluating the effectiveness of educational programmes".
