The event, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, was in honour of Ustaz Mohamad, 70, and Mr Zainol, 71, who are stepping down today. Praising the work of the outgoing presidents, Dr Yaacob, who is also Minister for Communications and Information, said: "Ustaz Mohamad and Mr Zainol Abeedin have always administered Muslim family law fairly and efficiently, without fear or favour." Ustaz Alfian, 39, will take on the appointment of senior president tomorrow. The Syariah Court, in Lengkok Bahru, is an Islamic religious court that handles Muslim legal affairs, ranging from divorce to inheritance, according to Syariah Law.
