One person taken to hospital after tipper truck overturns in Marymount

SINGAPORE – One person was taken to hospital on Aug 31 after a tipper truck overturned in Marymount Road.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the road traffic accident at about 10.50am, and that the affected person was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The police said they were alerted to an accident involving a tipper truck, which was believed to have skidded along Marymount Road towards Thomson Road.

They said a 50-year-old male truck driver was conscious when taken to the hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.

When The Straits Times arrived at the scene at about 1pm, two out of three lanes of Marymount Road towards the city after Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 were closed off.

Only buses could use the remaining open lane and get through to Marymount Road, and a long tailback of traffic was seen along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.

The tipper truck was flipped right side up at about 1.15pm and towed away by an Island Recovery Services vehicle at about 1.50pm.

The lanes were reopened at around 2.30pm.
