NUS holds seminar on sustainable urban transport

Four leading authorities in urban transport planning presented a seminar on "Sustainable Urban Transport Mobility and Transport Policy in Singapore" at the National University of Singapore on Monday .

NUS associate professor Anthony Chin, a renowned transport economist, talked about matching customer needs in public transport provision. He was joined by fellow associate professor Paul Barter from the NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, who spoke on new approaches to old dilemmas in the urban transport landscape.

Nanyang Technological University adjunct associate professor A.P.G. Menon, a retired traffic planner, gave an engineering perspective to the topic, when he talked about the place of infrastructure in mobility.

Finally, International Association of Public Transport (UITP) regional manager Adrien Moulin provided an international perspective to urban mobility policy. The event was attended by about 60 people from academia, government and members of the public.
