Residents of Yuhua and Jurong GRCs can now enjoy additional health services at their doorstep, with the opening of the Jurong East Community Health Centre.

The centre, at Jurong East Street 21, supports general practices by providing services such as physiotherapy and counselling, which are not available at the private clinics. It marks the third Community Health Centre in Singapore, with the other two in Tampines and Bedok.

SATA Commhealth will be operating the new centre, which will handle cases referred by doctors in the area, with a focus on patients with chronic ailments.

Ms Grace Fu, MP of Yuhua, said the initiative will be a "great relief" to elderly residents who have difficulty moving around. By 2030, more than one-fifth of the citizen population will be aged 65 and over, compared to 11 per cent today.
