New family service centre for the needy in Tampines Changkat and Changi Simei

Needy families living in Tampines Changkat and Changi Simei can now get help from professional social workers at a new family service centre located near their homes.

The Care Corner Family Service Centre (Tampines) was officially opened by Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for Defence, Mr Chan Chun Sing, on Saturday.

Located at the ground floor of Block 299B in Tampines Street 22, the centre provides a range of support services such as financial assistance and family counselling. A mentoring and tuition programme is also available for children from families with financial difficulties.

This is the fifth such centre by welfare organisation Care Corner. Prior to the completion of the centre, its staff conducted door-to-door surveys to better understand the needs of residents living in the area.

"Being located so close to these residents ensure that their needs can be met and services delivered to them efficiently," Care Corner said in a media release.
