New care centre for the frail and elderly in Serangoon Garden Way

Elderly people in need of nursing home care but who also wish to spend time at home have a new service to turn to.

The Ling Kwang Home for Senior Citizens has, together with the Agency for Integrated Care, have started a centre on its premises that takes care of patients during the day, and sends them home in the evening. This is the third such centre to be set up under the Singapore Programme for Integrated Care for the Elderly (Spice) programme.

So far 100 elderly have benefited since the programmed rolled out in 2010. Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Transport Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim said the service helps elderly patients transition back into the community more easily.
