Nafa lecturer investigated over molest claim

THE POLICE is investigating a lecturer at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Nafa) who was accused of molesting a student. A police spokesman confirmed on Thursday that a police report had been made regarding the incident which happened on April 5.

The lecturer had been accused of inappropriate behaviour by the student, who said he grabbed her hand forcefully during a drawing class, reported Chinese evening paper Lianhe Wanbao.

Disturbed by the encounter, she reported the incident to the school and also filed a complaint about the lecturer, who is in his 40s.
A spokesman from Nafa said the school views the incident seriously, and is conducting its own investigations.

He also said that a staff member had been called up by the police to assist in investigations. The lecturer, who teaches drawing at the school, was described by students as jovial and popular.
