Multi-purpose wand to minimise Police equipment shown at NP's open house

A seat on the MRT that only opens up for those who need it, a multi-purpose wand to reduce the amount of equipment police officers have to carry, and a toilet that rings an alarm to alert caregivers when an elderly patient is attempting to get up, are among the novel solutions that Ngee Ann Polytechnic students have come up with.

Students from the school's Automation and Mechatronic Systems course on Monday showcased several of their inventions in conjunction with the polytechnic's open house at Clementi Road.

Some of the inventions - including the police wand and the toilet sensor - were developed in collaboration with other organisations, such as the Clementi Police Division and Ren Ci Hospital.
