MP Baey Yam Keng discharged from hospital

Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC Baey Yam Keng, who was hospitalised for dengue fever on Sunday night, was discharged Thursday morning.

He said in a tweet that his platelet count has started to rise and posted a photo of his cut hospital wristband on social media.

He said he would be able to make it in time for the opening of a play written and directed by his wife Lim Hai Yen. The proceeds of the play Like Me. I Like, which runs from Thursday to Sunday at the School of the Arts, will go to two charities.

This is not Mr Baey's first brush with the mosquito-borne disease as he and Ms Lim were both hospitalised for dengue fever in 2007. The number of dengue cases per week fell for five consecutive weeks leading up to Nov 22, according to the latest figures on the National Environment Agency's dengue microsite
