Temperature drops to 22.4 deg C amid heavy rain in parts of S’pore

SINGAPORE – The mercury dipped to a low of 22.4 deg C in central Singapore on Sept 11, amid heavy rain in parts of the island.
According to the Meteorological Service Singapore’s website, the temperature was recorded at 3.51pm in Scotts Road, which saw 103mm of rain.
National water agency PUB also issued alerts for risk of flash floods in central Singapore in the afternoon.
In a post on social media platform X just before 3pm, PUB advised members of the public to avoid Thomson Road (Balestier Road to Novena Rise) for the next hour.
Shortly after, it posted similar alerts for the junction of Stevens Road and Balmoral Road, as well as Mackenzie Road (near Bukit Timah Road).

Between 3.15pm and 3.30pm, PUB issued additional alerts for Bencoolen Street, Cambridge Road, Carlisle Road, Kampong Java Road (Newton Circus to CTE) and Derbyshire Road.
The National Environment Agency (NEA) said in an advisory issued at around 3pm that heavy rain is expected over northern, eastern and central Singapore until 3.45pm. In an update at 3.30pm, it extended the forecast to 4.15pm.
At 5pm, NEA said on X that thundery showers over southern and eastern Singapore will clear up in the evening, with only showers thereafter.
The lowest temperature of 2026 so far was 20.1 deg C, recorded at the Newton weather station on June 12.
In its fortnightly weather forecast, the Met Service on Sept 1 said brief thundery showers can be expected over parts of the island in the late morning and afternoon on a few days in the first half of the month.
Fair and occasionally windy conditions are expected on most days.
