SINGAPORE - A 42-year-old motorcyclist died after he was run over by a container truck along Jalan Buroh at the junction of West Coast Highway on Thursday (Nov 24) at around 6.15pm. This is the latest in a recent spate of fatal accidents in the area.

A dashboard video of the incident, taken by a user called Fai Kor, was uploaded on road safety community Facebook page Roads.sg on Thursday night.

In the video, the motorcyclist is seen riding through the middle of two lanes between two trucks. He is then obstructed from the camera's view. A moment later, he and his motorcycle are lying on the road.

The container truck on the left lane then runs over both the rider and the bike with its rear wheel. The two trucks and other passing vehicles come to a stop as the rider lies motionless.

The video had been viewed more than 26,500 times and shared more than 600 times by Friday morning. Some users pointed out that the rider had gone between both trucks on a narrow two-lane road.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) dispatched one ambulance. The motorcyclist was declared dead on the scene by paramedics and investigations are ongoing, police said.

The incident follows a spate of fatal road accidents this week. There were three reported fatal road accidents between Monday and Wednesday.

On Monday night, a motorcyclist died after colliding with a lorry, also at Jalan Buroh at the junction of Jurong Port Road.

On Monday evening, a 47-year-old male pedestrian was hit by a car while crossing North Bridge Road.

A few fatal incidents have happened around the West Coast Highway area recently.

On Wednesday morning, a motorcyclist was killed in an accident along the West Coast Highway while trying to avoid a sapling bent over by strong wind.

On Oct 27, three young men riding their e-bikes were also involved in a fatal accident along West Coast Highway. One died at the scene, another succumbed to his injuries in hospital, and the third survived.
