SINGAPORE – A 27-year-old motorcyclist died after an accident with a car on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on Nov 10.

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force said they were alerted at around 10.20am.

The accident occurred on the PIE towards Changi Airport after the Lorong 6 Toa Payoh exit.

The motorcyclist was unconscious when taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he subsequently died, the authorities said.

The police have arrested a 31-year-old car driver for driving without reasonable consideration and causing death.

Police investigations are ongoing.

The accident on Nov 10 is the third reported fatal accident in two months involving a motorcyclist on the PIE.

On Sept 9, a

36-year-old motorcyclist died following an accident

involving two motorcycles on the expressway.

A month later, another

motorcyclist died after a collision

with an SBS Transit bus on the PIE.

The number of people killed and injured in traffic accidents 

hit a five-year high in 2024

Traffic accidents killed 139 people in 2024, up from the 131 in 2023, according to statistics released by the Traffic Police.

In the first half of 2025 alone,

78 fatal accidents were recorded

, compared with 70 in the same period the year before.
