Most Singaporeans still use NRIC number for SingPass ID

Option available since July 2015; experts say such NRIC usage is a double-edged sword

It has been three years since SingPass users could change their unique online IDs from their NRIC numbers, but most have failed to do so, The Straits Times has learnt.

A spokesman for the Smart Nation and Digital Government Office revealed the statistic to ST, but declined to reveal the proportion of users who use non-NRIC details to access their SingPass.
