Ngee Ann Poly students to raise money for charity by skipping one meal
A total of 8,000 students and 800 staff members of Ngee Ann Polytechnic will skip a meal today for a good cause. The money they would have otherwise spent on that meal will be donated to help needy students and the elderly. The campaign, called "Fast-A-Meal", hopes to raise $50,000. Students and staff members who take part in the event will be given cream crackers and Milo drinks to ease their hunger pangs. - AMOS LEE

Indian PM Modi meets Chinese counterpart Li in Beijing
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang today, the second day of his three-day visit to China. Mr Modi had met Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday in the ancient city of Xi'an, becoming the first world leader to be invited to Mr Xi's ancestral province of Shaanxi. The two leaders discussed a long-standing border dispute as well as India's bid to join the United Nations Security Council.
Mr Modi is also expected to sign off on deals worth US$10 billion (S$13.17 billion), including Chinese investments in India's rail network, during the trip. - LEE SEOK HWAI
