Intellectual property week kicks off

A three-day event on intellectual property (IP) will kick off on Monday (Aug 22). IP Week@SG, which is in its fifth year, will cover IP licensing and financing, as well as how IP can help drive innovation.

The event is organised by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (Ipos), IP Academy, Ipos International and IP ValueLab.

South Korea, US staging military drills

South Korea and the United States kick off the annual Ulchi Freedom Guardian (UFG) military exercise on Monday (Aug 22), involving around 50,000 troops, while Taiwan stages its annual live-fire military drills codenamed Han Kuang 32, which will end on Friday.

The two-week UFG drill is one of a number of annual joint exercises viewed as provocative rehearsals for invasion by Pyongyang,

Wing Tai, FJ Benjamin results today

The results season continues this week, with companies such as Wing Tai Holdings and FJ Benjamin set to report their numbers on Monday (Aug 22).

Their quarterly results will be closely watched by investors to get a gauge of how the property and retail sectors are affected by an ongoing economic slowdown.
