Getting rid of second-hand items used to be a quick trip to unload bags at the nearest Salvation Army booth, but more people are now utilising technology to find a new home and owner for their pre-loved things.
This allows donors to know exactly where their items are going, giving rise to a sense of satisfaction, and also plays into an increasing awareness of recycling, say sociologists.
