SINGAPORE – Seventy-six residents were evacuated after a fire broke out at a coffee shop in Ubi on the night of May 30.
The fire happened at about 11.35pm at Block 301 Ubi Avenue 1, and involved the contents of a food stall on the first floor of a coffee shop, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
A few other stalls were also damaged by the heat and smoke.
A person was taken to the Singapore General Hospital after being assessed for smoke inhalation, added the SCDF.
MP for Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC Faishal Ibrahim put up a Facebook post about the incident and thanked the SCDF for its swift response.
He added that residents living on the third and fourth storeys of the block were able to return to their homes at about 1.40am.
The cause of fire is still under investigation.
