These include a Golden Jubilee Ball, with more than 600 Singaporeans in Melbourne, a skit about Chinese immigrants which will be performed in Shanghai, and a live stream of the National Day parade at a lunch event in London organised by the Singapore UK Association.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean said: "Singaporeans here and abroad have been looking forward to celebrating this special SG50 National Day. Many have specially come home to join in the celebrations.

"Singaporeans celebrating SG50 overseas will also be very much a part of the celebrations as one big Singapore family, sharing in the atmosphere with live streaming and NDP fun packs. Together, let us all celebrate our progress as a nation in the last 50 years and re-dedicate ourselves to taking Singapore forward into the future."

His remarks came in a statement released by The Prime Minister's Office on Thursday.

The Overseas Singaporean Unit has also shipped out 13,000 fun packs to overseas missions and Singapore clubs, which will be distributed at these celebratory events.
