SINGAPORE - On Sunday (Aug 14) afternoon, more than 200 players set off on an adventure through Clementi, capturing virtual beasts and making new friends along the way.

These Pokemon Go players were taking part in The Great Clementi Pokemon Go Outing, organised by Clementi Citizens' Consultative Committee (CCC) in collaboration with pop culture company MonDate.tv.

In teams of four or five, the players headed from one Clementi landmark to another, to catch rare Pokemon attracted to each location by "lures" placed by the organisers.

Launched in Singapore a week ago (Aug 6), the smartphone game involves catching virtual creatures at real-world locations.

By working in teams and getting stamps at each checkpoint, players in the Clementi event also qualified for lucky draw prizes at the end of the trail, from gaming headsets sponsored by Razer to Pokemon artwork drawn by Clementi resident Rachta Lin.

Ms Lin and her husband Darren Lee, who oversees business development and partnership at MonDate.tv, were co-organisers of the event.

The event was supported by Clementi Residents' Committees, Faber Hills Neighbourhood Committee and Clementi Community Centre Youth Executive Committee.

Correction Note: An earlier version of this story said that Razer was a local firm. Although Razer has a Singaporean co-founder, it is not incorporated in Singapore. We are sorry for the error.
