SINGAPORE - November 2016 is expected to be rainier than usual, and wet weather will persist for the rest of the month, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said.

The rainy weather experienced since the month started is set to continue, NEA said in its latest advisory on Wednesday (Nov 16).

"Thundery showers, heavy at times, are forecast mostly in the afternoon and evening on six to eight days," said NEA.

In addition, widespread thundery showers accompanied by gusty winds can be expected at dawn on one or two days.

Most parts of Singapore received above average rainfall during the first fortnight of November.

November is usually the second wettest month of the year, after December. But this November, rainfall is likely to be higher than normal, NEA said.

The north-east monsoon is also returning, although the inter-monsoon period is expected to persist for November.

NEA said: "The winds are expected to gradually strengthen and blow from the north-east or north-west around the end of the month, signalling the onset of the north-east monsoon."

The daily maximum temperature for the fortnight is forecast to be around 32 deg C or 33 deg C.

On rainy days, cooler nights are expected with the daily minimum temperature reaching 22 deg C and 23 deg C.

Updates of the daily weather forecast can be found on the MSS website (www.weather.gov.sg), NEA website (www.nea.gov.sg), the myENV app or the Weather@SG app.
