More learning Chinese dialects to connect with seniors or embrace cultural identity

There has been an upward trend of about 5 to 10 per cent of people keen on learning the Hokkien dialect over the years.

SINGAPORE - Accountant Teo Seok Kheng has been taking Hokkien lessons since January last year (2021).
She has completed basic and intermediate lessons organised by the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Cultural Academy on Wednesday nights and found it easier to communicate with elderly residents in Dawson, as part of her volunteer work with non-profit group My Community.
