SINGAPORE - Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan will be in New Delhi on Monday (Oct 12) to co-chair the Fourth Meeting of the India-Singapore Joint Ministerial Committee (JMC) for Bilateral Cooperation, alongside Indian Minister of External Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs Sushma Swaraj.

Dr Balakrishnan will also be hosted to tea by Ms Swaraj, a press statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

He will be accompanied on his visit by officials from the ministry.

First held in 2008, the India-Singapore JMC is a regular ministerial dialogue process to review the state of bilateral relations between the two countries and explore new areas of cooperation.

The JMC meeting has a special significance this year as the two countries are commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The two nations are also working to elevate ties to the level of a strategic partnership during the official visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Singapore next month.
