A tourist taking pictures in front of the Merlion as it underwent cleaning yesterday.

The Singapore icon will be back at work today after taking two days off to undergo a routine cleaning procedure at the Merlion Park.

The 8m-tall statue opposite One Fullerton was covered with sheets and scaffolding on Monday.

Its junior version - often called the Merlion cub - will get its scrubdown today.
