Man suspected of stealing motorcycle in Bukit Panjang arrested

SINGAPORE - The police have arrested a 27-year-old man suspected of stealing a motorcycle in Bukit Panjang in October.

On Oct 24, the police received a report that a motorcycle had been stolen from a multi-storey carpark at Segar Road, it said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 8).

After reviewing images from police cameras and conducting enquiries on the ground, officers from the Jurong Division established the suspect's identity and arrested him on Monday at Segar Road.

The suspect is expected to be charged in court for the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he may be jailed up to seven years and fined.

In the statement, the police reminded motorcycle owners to park their vehicle in well-lit areas. They should also remove the ignition key and lock their bike whenever it is left unattended. Additional locking devices such as disc brake locks and anti-theft alarm should also be installed.
