Man jailed 6 months for sexual offences on youth

In 2010, Christian Bora M. Ganapathi took sexual advantage of a student from a special needs school. On Monday, he was sentenced to six months in jail. He had pleaded guilty in October.

A district court heard that Ganapathi was 19 years old when he got to know the victim in August or September 2010. They conversed and when they met several days later, they exchanged phone numbers. He was aware that his new friend had a low IQ.

He would invite the victim to his housing board flat when his family was not around. Soon, he was masturbating the younger teen and performing oral sex on him. He also attempted to sodomise him. The court issued a gag order to safeguard the identity of the victim.

Defence counsel Louis Joseph said that his client had romantic feelings for the victim .

"He was attracted to him and enjoyed his company even after knowing that the victim was mentally deficient," the lawyer added.
