A man was jailed for three months on Wednesday for molesting a teen and shoplifting. Tong Hor Tuang, 54, admitted to pressing the hand of a 15-year-old student, kissing and touching her at Toa Payoh Town Park last Nov 12. He also admitted to stealing a can of beer from NTUC FairPrice at Toa Payoh HDB Hub on May 6 this year.
The court heard that the victim and her friend, aged 17, were chatting at the park at about 9.40pm when Tong told them to go home as it was late. They ignored him and continued talking.
Tong then knelt down in front of the victim and pressed her left thigh. He asked them to follow him to the toilet nearby but they declined. He then stood up and leaned his body forward and kissed her and also touched her buttocks.
The victim shouted and ran away with her friend who had also been molested but the charge was taken into consideration. Tong was arrested two days later. Since the 1980s, he has racked up a number of convictions, mostly of theft.
