Police are investigating a 32-year-old man for making a false police report on Monday.
The incident happened at about 1pm, when the suspect lodged a police report at Nanyang Neighbourhood Police Centre in Jurong West, claiming that he had been robbed a day before.
The suspect could only provide sketchy details of the alleged crime, which raised the suspicions of the officer who interviewed him.
Upon further questioning, the suspect admitted that he had fabricated the alleged robbery, which did not take place. He had fabricated the story in a bid to have his work contract terminated early. Investigation into this case is ongoing.
A person found guilty of giving false information to a public servant, can be jailed for up to a year, fined up to $5000, or both.
