Man drowns in Singapore River

SINGAPORE - The body of a man was found motionless in the Singapore River on Tuesday (July 10).

Police said they were alerted to a case of unnatural death at around 6.45am.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to reports of a man entering the Singapore River near 80 Mohamed Sultan Road at 6.50am.

SCDF officers, including divers from the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team, conducted a surface search and an underwater search.

The man's body was found at 12.20pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene by SCDF paramedics.

Police investigations are ongoing.
