Man arrested for string of housebreaking and theft cases in Jurong West

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for suspected involvement in a string of housebreaking and theft cases in the Jurong West neighbourhood.

Responding to a police report lodged by a Jurong West St 51 retail shop - its staff had discovered that some $6,000 was stolen from a damaged drawer on October 8 - officers found CCTV footage that captured the incident.

Through investigations, officers from Jurong Police Division managed to establish the identity of the suspect, and on Monday evening, nabbed the suspect in the vicinity of Boon Lay Place.

Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect could be responsible for several theft-in-dwelling cases in the Jurong West neighbourhood.

For housebreaking and theft by night, he may be sentenced to up to 14 years' imprisonment.
