SINGAPORE – A 26-year-old man was arrested for driving while under the influence of intoxicating substances after an accident in Chinatown on the evening of Oct 16.

Police said they were alerted to the accident in New Bridge Road at about 6.20pm that day. It involved two cars, and no injuries were reported.

An e-vaporiser and two liquid pods were found on the 26-year-old, the police said, adding that the vape-related offence will be referred to the Health Sciences Authority.

In pictures and clips of the accident uploaded online, a black car is seen parked between the second and third rightmost lanes on the six-lane road with its boot open.

A few police officers are seen surrounding the car, with at least five police vehicles parked around it.

A man is also seen with his hands handcuffed behind his back and under police escort.

Investigations are ongoing.
