SINGAPORE - A 24-year-old man has been arrested by the police for criminal intimidation and unlawful possession of arms.
According to a police report that another man, also 24, lodged on Saturday (Nov 19) at 6.55am, the suspect used an object which resembled a pistol to intimidate him when they were engaged in a dispute at a car park near Hougang Avenue 3. The suspect later left in a vehicle, police said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 20).
The suspect was arrested within an hour after the report was lodged and found with an air pistol and related accessories, plastic pellets and a knife.
He is expected to charged in court on Monday (Nov 21) for various offences including criminal intimidation and unlawful possession of arms.
If convicted, he could be jailed for life and receive at least six strokes of the cane.
The police said it takes a serious view of arms-related offences.
An arm refers to "any firearm, air-gun, air-pistol, automatic gun, automatic pistol and any other kind of gun or pistol from which any shot, bullet or other missile can be discharged or noxious liquid, flame or fumes can be emitted, and any component part thereof and includes any bomb or grenade and any component part thereof" , police added.
