SINGAPORE - A lorry driver suffered serious injuries after his front cabin was crushed in an accident involving three lorries along the Central Expressway (CTE) on Monday (June 12).

His lorry was the third in the chain collision that occurred at 1.15pm along the CTE towards the Seletar Expressway, after the Yio Chu Kang Exit.

Photos sent to citizen journalism site Stomp show a C S Tay delivery truck with its front cabin crushed by another lorry in front of it.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force told The Straits Times that it was alerted then and dispatched two fire engines, two fire bikes, one Red Rhino, one support vehicle and one ambulance.

"The driver in one of the lorries was trapped in his seat," said the SCDF spokesman. The 62-year-old was rescued with hydraulic tools and taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
