Long-stay patient at IMH finds a voice through his art

Mr Sim Kah Lim, 51, suffers from schizophrenia and has been warded at the Institute of Mental Health for 36 years. Yet he has a talent for art and his artworks sell for between $1,200 and $8,000.

He goes on to tell you that he is "as proud as a peacock and as sincere as a deer" when people appreciate his paintings. From someone else, such confidence might be jarring, but he has every reason to be proud of his art.
