Remembering Lee Kuan Yew

Long queue at garage giving out decals bearing Mr Lee Kuan Yew's profile

SINGAPORE- About 100 people were queueing up at a garage in Kaki Bukit on Wednesday to get car decals bearing the image of Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

The garage, Dynamics Mechanic, started giving out the decals free-of-charge on Tuesday. The decals depict an image that is, by now, familiar on social media - a black ribbon which frames Mr Lee's profile.

Mr Albert Emmanuel, 39, director of the garage, told The Straits Times on Wednesday that people started turning up as early as 6am on Wednesday, although the time for collection was stated as 10am. He has given out more than 1,000 decals on Wednesday alone, and he said that giving them away was his way of paying tribute to Mr Lee.

The waiting time in the queue is about an hour, according to Mr Emmanuel. The garage will continue to offer the decals till Saturday, or for as long as they can handle the volume.
