Live coverage from Parliament: Second reading of the Public Order Bill

There will be a second reading of the Public Order Bill in Parliament on Tuesday. The proposed legislation seeks to give law enforcement officers enhanced powers in Little India, where a riot broke out last December following a fatal traffic accident.

It will empower officers to search and interview anyone within the area for prohibited items - such as weapons or explosives - and alcohol, and also to ban individuals from entering the area if their presence is deemed likely to threaten public order, among other powers.
