Party-goers and viewers of this year's Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2014 can look forward to a 40-second LED countdown display projected on the facade of the Ocean Financial Centre before an eight-minute fireworks display at midnight.

The ninth edition of the New Year's Eve countdown party is themed "A Beautiful Life". It boasts three separate musical events including one which will be televised live and feature music performances by Taiwanese singer Wang Lee-Hom and British pop group The Wanted. Organisers are expecting a 300,000 strong crowd at the event. Music performances and short films by local director Kelvin Sng will also be put on at the Esplanade.

Those looking to soak in the festive atmosphere early can also head to a bazaar by the Marina Bay waterfront promenade which starts at 4pm.

Admission to the bazaar, which will boast 28 stalls, is free. Food stalls will also be set up from 6 pm near the Marina Waterfront Promenade.

Auxiliary police and security officers will be deployed for crowd and traffic control and the footway along the Benjamin Sheares Bridge will be closed to pedestrians from 6 pm on Dec 31 to 1am on Jan 1, 2014.

Other roads that will be closed to traffic day include:

- Marina Boulevard, Marina Way, Straits View, Marina View, Marina View Link (from 10pm on Dec 31 to 1am on Jan 1, 2014)

- Raffles Avenue (between Temasek Avenue and Esplanade Drive), Esplanade Drive, Fullerton Road, Collyer Quay, Raffles Quay (between Collyer Quay and Marina Boulevard), Bayfront Avenue, Connaught Drive, Raffles Link, Fullerton Square, Battery Road, Flint Street, Bonham Street, D'Almeida Street, Malacca Street, De Souza Street, (from 11.30pm on Dec 31 to 1.30am on Jan 1, 2014).
