Leadership required to counter hatred

In a Facebook post shortly after the Christchurch terror attack, President Halimah Yacob underlined the need for strong leadership to counter hatred and xenophobia. Here is an extract from her remarks:

"What can we learn from the recent massacre in Christchurch? The most important lesson is that we must fight all forms of xenophobia and hatred perpetrated simply on the basis of a person's religion, colour or creed. Terrorism can be found among all religions. It is not exclusive to any faith. It emanates from a strong sense of superiority over others, and the desire to exert that superiority.
