Law Society elects seven council members

SINGAPORE - The Law Society of Singapore has elected seven members to its council - three for its senior category, two for its middle category, and two for its junior category.

The three elected candidates in the senior category are Mr Gregory Vijayendran, Ms Lisa Sam Hui Min and Mr Tan Gim Hai Adrian. All three are current council members. Mr Vijayendran is the current treasurer, a member of the ExCo and has served in the council since January 2013. Ms Sam is currently the chairperson of the Law Society's Small Law Firms Committee and has served in Council since 2006. Mr Tan is currently a member of the ExCo and has served in the council since January 2013.

The two elected members in the middle category are Ms Chung Ka Kay Katie and Ms Lin Weiqi Wendy, both of whom are new additions to council.

The two elected members in the junior category are Ms Simran Kaur Toor and Mr Arvindran s/o Manoosegaran. Ms Simran is a current council member who has served in the council since 2011, while Mr Arvindran is a new addition to the council.

Law Society president and Senior Counsel Lok Vi Ming said: "Council will benefit from both the incumbent council members and new additions as well. It is a heavy burden of responsibility and duty but I am confident the new Council will meet the challenges facing the profession in an evolving legal landscape."
