Land Transport Authority, Housing Board bag top awards for government e-services

The Housing Board and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) emerged as big winners at an inaugural technology awards ceremony that recognises the best e-services provided by government agencies here.

The LTA clinched top spot in two categories - mobile services and data sharing - at the e-Government Excellence Awards ceremony held on Tuesday.

Its app, My Transport.SG, which provides features such as real-time bus arrival information and parking lot availability, beat other mobile apps by the HDB and People's Association.

In the data sharing category, the transport agency was awarded for its open data initiative, DataMall, which allows the public to download traffic and public transport data to create apps.

The HDB came in top in the e-Services category for its electronic document handling system, MyDoc@HDB. The system reduces paperwork and allows public housing applicants to submit electronic or scanned documents to the Housing Board.

The Ministry of Defence was awarded the best in "people engagement" for its cyberpioneerTV YouTube Channel and cyberpioneer Facebook page. The awards, formerly known as the Web Excellence Awards, is jointly organised by the Ministry of Finance and Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.
