Commissioner of Police Ng Joo Hee on Sunday night attended the funeral wake of the Kovan double murder victims, which began earlier in the evening.
A police spokesman said Mr Ng was there to pay his respects and to offer his condolences to the family of Mr Tan Boon Sin, 67, and Mr Tan Chee Heong, 42, the father and son who were killed last Wednesday in their home at Hillside Drive in Kovan estate.
Mr Ng had come out strongly against the murder, suspected to have been committed by Iskandar Rahmat, a 34-year-old senior staff sergeant from Bedok North Neighbourhood Police Centre.
He said on Saturday that Iskandar - who is now in police custody - will be charged for the brutal murders. "When I was first told that the murder suspect could be one of our own, my initial reaction was disbelief, swiftly followed by anger and anguish. This was the same gamut of emotions police investigators had to deal with in the last few days as they pursued the suspect. The fact that the suspect is a police officer gave my investigators even greater resolve and determination to solve this case."
