ITE staff, students to run 2,500km to mark Singapore's jubilee

SINGAPORE - Staff and students from the Institute of Technical Education, together with seasoned ultramarathoners Mr Lim Nghee Huat and Mr Yong Yuen Cheng, will be running 2,500km over 50 days to mark the nation's Golden Jubilee.

As part of Go 50 - A Nation in Motion, some 50km will be covered each day between April 16 and June 4, culminating in the finale of the torch light-up ceremony of the SEA Games to be held in Singapore.

The daily run will be spread across planned routes across Singapore. The project was conceptualised by ITE Sports and Management students and non-profit organisation Heartware Network.

Mr Raymond Huang, founder of Heartware Network, said: "The project will stretch the planning committee to hone their skills for the workforce.

"There are tremendous out-of-classroom learning and hands-on applications that will empower the youth to be resourceful, much like Singapore in her early years."
